Aether according to alchemists was the fifth and essential element of life force. The force that moves through us, present in all the other Elements and the essence of god.

In ancient Greece Aether was the protogenos (primal and elementary) god of air and light in mythology. He was the son of the gods Nyx - or Noc in latin (primordial goddess of night) and Erebus (god of shadow and darkness). With this mythological allegory, Aether, god of light was born from darkness. Further on, Aether (as a noun) was believed to be the 'fine upper air' breathed by the gods of Olympus.

The wishbone is known as a symbol of good luck in quite a few countries and cultures. I was inspired both by the symbolism of this concept but also by the simple fluidity of this naturaly occuring form

This design was studied to reduce all excessive lines to a the elements that capture the movement of the figure suspended in space. The resulting simplicity  and minimal style of this piece was taken on into a range of designs that follow the principal of reduction. This is the first pendant of the 'silver spheres' range that was designed by Nikias back in 2002.

This wing is a free interpretation of the wing of Hermes, messenger to the gods. The theme was chosen for the symbolism of  this winged god who was the mediator of all good and bad news and therefore the significator of change to come.  The 2 elements that compose the piece symbolize the varying yet harmonising dynamics of change.

The curvature and dynamics of the design utilize their materials' properties collectively and organically. Designing this apparently minimal bracelet contained multiple challenges. Combining minimized form, retaining shape and the studying of 2 materials with very different properties such that they complement eachother mutually, both with equal importance.
